Sue Lange's story, Zara Gets Laid, out now in mbrane SF #5:
Here's the editor's intro to the story:
Maybe this kind of story is what I had in mind when I decided to include the “Content Advisory” on page two of every issue of this zine. Whenever the discussion of sexual explicitness comes up in genre writing/editing discussions, it seems that everyone needs to bend over backwards and then fall over themselves into a spinning head-stand to make it completely clear that such a thing is fine, when absolutely necessary to advance plot, illuminate character, blah, blah, blah. Well, I don’t mind it even in its nakedly gratuitous form so long as it pleases me aesthetically and, uh, “entertains” me somehow. Well, the following story by Sue Lange should satisfy most people’s needs: its sexiness does advance plot (it’s a sex story) and illuminates character (main character seeks to get laid), and it is told with great verve and good humor. Oh, I almost forgot: it’s a science fiction story, too, so look out for the “hard” science that underlays it.—CF
